The Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) was established in 1974 with the mission of insuring quality learning experiences for all students through visionary and effective leadership. GAEL is an umbrella organization under which Georgia educational leaders are unified. GAEL provides to all these groups broad based membership services, professional development, in addition to financial services, communications, accidental death insurance, and lobbying services.
GAEL has a full-time office staff available who are highly capable of helping members with a wide range of needs and requests. GAEL also represents school administrator's viewpoints year-round with a definitive voice with the Georgia General Assembly and other policymaking bodies including the Georgia State Board of Education.
GAEL is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of the GAEL President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, and Secretary/Treasurer along with four additional members from each of the affiliated school administrator groups. GAEL is the only organization in Georgia for all central office administrators, principals, assistant principals and higher education professionals. There are approximately 2,500 members including public school systems, Regional Education Service Agencies, 6 affiliate school administrator organizations, student, associate, and corporate members.
