Substitute Teachers

You must bring a voucher with you to the workshop. This voucher can be obtained from your local board of education.

The purpose of this training program is to help participants be more successful as substitute teachers; therefore, meeting the requirement of the Georgia Board of Education (Code: GBRJ).

Participants will receive three hours of training from Heart of Georgia RESA and one hour of training from their local system.

Participants will be exposed to the rudiments of professional ethics, classroom management, instructional techniques, and some basic curriculum content. Participants will receive suggestions regarding "do's and don'ts" when substituting and activities to use when the classroom teacher's lesson plans cannot be followed.

Each session is from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on a "first come, first served" basis. Registration is at 8:45 a.m. No one will be admitted to the training session after 9:00 a.m.

Schedule for Classes

A $30 registration fee (CASH ONLY) must be paid at the training site. Please call 478.374.2240 or 800.749.7372 if wheelchair accessibility is needed. A minimum of two weeks notice is required to arrange for needed accommodations or special assistance.

FINGERPRINTING

FINGERPRINTING WILL BE AVAILABLE AT HEART OF GA RESA BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 - 9:00 A.M. AND 12:00 - 3:00 P.M. ON THE WORKSHOP DATES.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE FINGERPRINTED, PLEASE ASK THE SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION CONSENT FORM.  PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM AND BRING IT WITH YOU TO THE WORKSHOP.  YOU MUST BRING A PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO BE FINGERPRINTED.  THE COST FOR FINGERPRINTING IS $24.00 (CASH, MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER’S CHECK MADE PAYABLE TO HEART OF GEORGIA RESA).
