Professional Development

Northeast Georgia RESA is committed to providing professional development that is results-driven, standards-based, and job embedded. Professional development opportunities focus on improved instruction of our teachers by setting high expectations and standards for the academic and social development of all students. Northeast Georgia RESA strives to provide a culture of continuous learning for teachers tied to student learning and based on local school improvement plans.

Instructional Technology

Northeast Georgia RESA has been approved to provide the “Special Georgia Technology Certification Requirements Course”!!

Certified educators in Georgia must demonstrate competence in the application of instructional technology. The Special Georgia Technology Requirement is grounded in the premise that all educators must become competent in the use of technology to attain high levels of student achievement.

Northeast Georgia RESA will be providing the 50-course which is divided into three levels. Participants must complete all three levels or “test-out” for each level of the 50-hour course. Teachers must have access to a computer and will be required to complete assignments and projects outside of classroom time. A portfolio which includes a 5-day unit and a PowerPoint presentation will be required. Participants will demonstrate their portfolio at the last session of Level III. An on-the-job performance evaluation conducted by the systems is a required component of the technology certification.

Individuals may select a PSC approved “test-out” option to meet the Georgia Technology Standards, Objectives, and Descriptors for Educators. The thirteen school systems in our district will offer the “test-out” option. There will be three levels of the test-out option which is aligned with the 50-hour course. Participants may test-out on all three levels of the course or test-out on Level I & II and take Level III of the course. All three levels of the course run independently of each other.

Staff development credit (SDUs) are not awarded for the test-out.
