Tammy Duckworth Accepts 
2009 AOA Health Care Leadership Award

Tammy Duckworth, Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs at the US Department of Veterans Affairs, accepts the 2009 AOA Health Care Leadership Award. As she accepts her award, she shares her experience as a helicopter pilot who was shot down in Iraq and the role her optometrist played in saving her eyes and vision. She also explains how her optometrist's care was critically important to her medical recovery from very serious injuries.
