West GA RESA
GA Academy for Preparation & Pedagogy Program
West Georgia RESA is proud to sponsor individuals who do not hold an education degree but who would like to become a classroom teacher. We value the life experiences of those who have been in the business or professional world and the possibilities they can offer students. We have previous candidates who are currently Assistant Principals, have been elected teacher of the year for their schools, teachers who have students who excelled in standardized test scores and teachers who are exemplary examples of Georgia's new curriculum standards and non-traditional classrooms. We even have one GaTAPP graduate who is an instructional specialist here at West Georgia RESA! We especially enjoy the opportunity to get to know our candidates as individuals and watching them evolve as involved and nurturing teachers. Please note that we serve only candidates that have secured a full-time teaching position in one of our participating member systems. Those systems are Carrollton City, Carroll County, Coweta County, Harris County, Heard County, Meriwether County and Troup County.
West Georgia RESA is thrilled to announce that we have undergone an extensive state review - the first continuing review to be conducted - and have met all seven standards!!! We know that we have some areas in which we will continue to improve upon to make our program one of the best in the state. This three day review consisted of much document review, interviews with system and RESA personnel as well as with current and former TAPP candidates. We are very excited to be 'on track' with the direction that our program is taking and are looking forward to being able to serve our candidates and systems in even more innovative and comprehensive ways.
