The mission of the North Carolina Agribusiness Council is to raise awareness of the state’s # 1 industry and the significant contribution of agribusiness to North Carolina’s economy and advance agribusiness interests and programs, thereby increasing employment and expanding agribusiness opportunities in North Carolina. Current economic data compiled by Dr. Mike Walden at NCSU shows that Agribusiness contributes more than $103.2 billion to NC's economy and the industry employs 736,679 (16%) of North Carolinians.

It's not always easy to stay ahead of special interests and other groups that don't understand Agriculture and Agribusiness - and what it takes to get food, clothing and shelter from the land to the consumer.  That is why NCAg works closely with our partners at the NCDA&CS, the Universities of NCA&T State University, NC State University, Mount Olive College and the NC Community Colleges System as well as DWQ, NCDOL, NCDOC and other state agencies and yes, even environmental, animal rights and worker advocacy groups. This doesn't mean that we always agree with every policy and position of these groups, but the Council always work hard to find workable solutions to today's challenges.

The goals of the North Carolina Agribusiness Council include:

  • Be a dynamic grassroots organization for Agribusiness in North Carolina that brings value to its membership.
  • Be recognized as the unified and authoritative voice for the North Carolina agribusiness industry among elected officials and opinion leaders.
  • Promote the North Carolina agribusiness industry through the media to the general public.
  • Be engaged with other organizations in order to advance the agribusiness industry.
