Council Logo Created in 1980

The Council's logo is a stalwart reminder of our state's # 1 industry. Use of the NC Agribusiness Council logo began in 1980 after being developed under the leadership of then Executive Vice President Norfleet "Fleet" Sugg, who served as the Council's leader from 1977 to 1980. Sugg says the logo was derived from Maslow's Pyramid of Human Needs, with the basic of physiological needs - food, clothing and shelter - being symbolized by the three leaves, growing from the topsoil. Its use was officially launched with the presentation of a framed copy to Jim Graham, then Commissioner of Agriculture. In 2008, the Council launched an updated version of the 28-year old logo, maintaining the basic message from the original concept.
