PAGE Leadership Institute for 2008-09 Teachers of the Year
Purpose
The PAGE Leadership Institute for school districts' current Teachers of the Year is designed to promote, advance and build upon the skills of teacher leaders throughout Georgia. This leadership institute is an investment in the 182 district Teacher of the Year recipients in Georgia and will provide these teachers with opportunities to learn how they can lead and become influential advocates for public education in their respective school systems.
Goals
The goals are to:
- Develop a framework for teachers to incorporate a culture of coaching into their school environment by developing the why, who, what, and how of a sound coaching program.
- Empower the teachers with skills to connect content and students through differentiated instruction.
- Prepare teachers to rethink the 21st Century technology tools that are employed in the classroom through a variety of hands-on activities.
Program Format
The PAGE Leadership Institute for 2008-09 Teachers of the Year provides one-day, high quality professional learning sessions focusing on significant and relevant topics that build the leadership skills of the district Teachers of the Year in Georgia. Each session is offered in four regional locations on subsequent days and presented by the same national or state expert or consultant. This institute is FREE for all district TEACHERS OF THE YEAR and includes breakfast, lunch, and professional materials for use in the classroom. School districts must provide release time for their Teacher of the Year to attend.
RSVP
District Teachers of the Year will receive notification of this valuable training and must RSVP to the PAGE office to be included in the scheduled training. Because financial commitments must be made to presenters, to host institutions regarding space and food, and to order adequate materials, it is recommended that district Teachers of the Year RSVP as soon as possible to dray@pageinc.org.
