General Assembly Faces Critical Day 30, “Crossover Day,” on Monday
Monday, March 3, 2014 is a critical day at the statehouse, known as "Crossover Day." It is the last day for each chamber (i.e., House or Senate) to vote on their respective bills in order for them to move on to the other chamber for a vote and to possibly become state law. In other words, it is the last day for all House bills to make it out of the House and for all Senate bills to make it out of the Senate. It is imperative that our county officials review legislation on Monday's House and Senate calendar (see below), as well as potential bills that may be added to the calendar (see below) and evaluate the impact on their county.

Please reach out to your state representatives and senators over the weekend to talk to them about the bills ACCG is tracking on behalf of our counties. View the bills listed in the section below that are up for consideration on Monday. Please be sure to contact the appropriate ACCG policy staff member should you have any questions or concerns about a particular bill.

Additional Legislation that may be Added to Monday's House Floor Calendar
Several bills passed out of committee yesterday that may be considered by the House on Monday if the Rules Committee adds them to the "supplemental calendar." Those bills with potential for consideration may be viewed here

Constant and persistent dialogue with your state legislators is of extreme importance during the legislative session. ACCG asks that all counties contact their state representatives and senators before crossover day to ensure that Georgia’s county governments are considered. Be sure to thank them for any previous help given to the counties and encourage their continued support. As always, please contact an ACCG policy staff member with any questions you have as this session quickly progresses.
