General Assembly Focuses on Appropriations Hearings and Governor’s Budget Recommendations
 
The General Assembly dedicated this week to appropriations hearings. Along with full Joint Appropriations meetings, several subcommittees met this week to discuss Governor Nathan Deal’s budget recommendations in the FY2015 Supplemental Budget and FY2016 Budget which were released last Friday.
 
Based on the budget estimates released last week, revenues continue on an upward path. The FY 2015 Supplemental Budget includes a revised revenue estimate of $21,112,906,096, increasing the overall state revenues by $276,161,476. The FY2016 revenue estimate is projected at $21,782,964,314, with a FY2016 Budget of $19,219,341,203.
 
The Supplemental Budget Appropriations bill (House Bill 75) and the General Budget Appropriations bill (House Bill 76) were introduced on January 16, 2015 and the Joint Appropriations Committees will meet in the upcoming weeks to discuss the recommendations.
