Legislators Remain on Schedule despite Winter Storm

Despite the effects of the winter storm that resulted in state offices, local governments, schools and many private sector business closings on Wednesday, February 25 in the metro Atlanta and north Georgia area, the General Assembly remains on schedule with the adjournment resolution set at the beginning of the session. This week’s legislative activity was light compared to others that have been consumed with transportation funding and property tax reform deliberations. The Transportation Funding Act was recommitted to the House Transportation Committee and will be heard Monday afternoon. Several changes are anticipated. Please continue to monitor your emails and ACCG's website for updates. Next week will see the return of these bills and also usher in discussions surrounding SB 186.

Option of Posting Legal Notices Online (SB 186)

ACCG expects SB 186 to be introduced on Monday, March 2. This bill contains one of ACCG’s legislative priorities, providing counties the opportunity of electronically posting some of their legal notices on the Internet in lieu of, or in addition to, the legal organ. This proposed statutory change is not a requirement, it just provides for additional flexibility. For more information on the provisions of this bill, please click here.

House Adopts HB 76, the “Big Budget”
