Vol # 6, Issue 9 - March 16, 2015

Legislative Day 40 Approaching Soon

Now that crossover day has passed (Friday, March 13th), we are entering the final 10 legislative days of the 2015 legislative session. The bills in this week's progressing section of the update made it out of the originating chamber by day 30 and will be considered over the next 10 days. Please click here for a list of bills of significant importance to counties that did not crossover. These bills are dead for the Session unless they are amended onto another bill. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the ACCG Policy Staff member listed.

The next two weeks will be filled with committee meetings as legislators race to get their bills placed on the House and Senate Rules Calendars (Floor agendas). Two of ACCG’s priority bills for the Session (HB 202- Property Tax Appeals and Administration Reform assigned to Senate Finance and HB 170- The Transportation Funding Act assigned to Senate Transportation) will be heard Tuesday in their respective committees. The final days of this session will take place on March 31st (Day 39) and April 2nd (Day 40-Sine Die). Be sure to watch for ACCG Action Alerts, emails and monitor the ACCG website for any updates from the policy staff during these critical days.

Please review this week's update and contact your legislators to encourage their support of bills helpful to counties and their opposition of bills that would be harmful to county taxpayers. Please use the next three weeks to discuss the bills highlighted below and encourage your legislators to consider the counties’ position when voting on particular legislation. Also, please take time to thank legislators for their help during this session and for working closely with our membership. Your voice is powerful!
