General Assembly Wraps Up 2015 Legislative Session

With the final gavel falling just after midnight, the Georgia General Assembly marked the close of the 2015 legislative session.

ACCG offers a sincere thank you to all of the county officials who stayed involved and engaged as bills moved through the legislative process by communicating directly with your House and Senate members. One of ACCG’s greatest assets is the grassroots network of county officials who are willing to take action and make their voices heard on legislative issues that impact counties. Your involvement and communication helps ACCG’s Policy Staff when advocating on legislative issues that impact counties. ACCG’s Policy Staff would like to express appreciation to the ACCG Policy Council and ACCG Board of Managers for their guidance on critical legislation and their engagement.

Below is a list of key legislation affecting counties that passed on Day 40. ACCG's Policy Staff will provide a comprehensive update on the 2015 legislative session next Tuesday. Please plan to join ACCG’s Policy Staff for an in person Legislative Review during the ACCG Annual Conference. All major legislation that passed or failed that may have an affect on counties will be addressed. There will also be three breakout sessions on ACCG’s Top Three Legislative Priorities: Juvenile Justice Funding, Property Tax Clean-Up and Transportation Funding.

If you have any immediate questions, please contact the policy staff member who tracked the legislation, which is found in the ACCG legislative database.
