County Officials Vote to Support Removal of TAVT Local Target Formula

The ACCG Policy Council voted on Monday, February 1, 2016, to support the removal of the local target formula in the TAVT law. The removal of the local target formula would increase the local share of TAVT this year from 45 percent to 46.5 percent instead of reducing it to 40.5 percent. It would also ensure the local percentage share would increase every year until it reaches 72 percent in 2022. County officials are encouraged to contact their legislators to ask them to support this change. Any questions regarding changes to TAVT may be directed to ACCG Legislative Director Clint Mueller at cmueller@accg.org. Furthermore, ACCG did receive an analysis from the Fiscal Research Office today on the impact of TAVT revenues on counties. It is currently being reviewed and information will be provided to counties next week.

2016 District Days at the Capitol Less Than Two Weeks Away

ACCG will host its first 2016 District Day at the Capitol on Feb. 17, 2016. District Days allow county officials the opportunity to hear directly from key legislators and state leaders such as Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and House Speaker David Ralston on significant issues as they move through the legislative process. County officials will have the opportunity to speak directly to the decision makers who influence the laws that govern our state. ACCG encourages every county to attend one of the three scheduled District Days to not only become more engaged in the legislative process, but to help ACCG serve as a unified voice for county governments in Georgia. Though each district has a specific day, counties may attend the District Day that works best for their commissioners. Click here for more information and to register your county today.

ACCG is Your Primary Source for Information during the Session
