SSTAGE President’s Message

May & June 2010

This is truly an exciting time in our state as standards continue to be raised for all Georgia students.  In spite of the budget challenges, there continues to be a climate for real change and opportunities to develop innovative educational solutions which powerfully impact positive outcomes for struggling students.  I would like to take this opportunity share our plans for next year and review SSTAGE’s progress monitoring goals over the past year.  The progress that we have made together would not have been possible without our members support, the dedication of the SSTAGE Board, and our collaboration from our partners in education.

Based on what SSTAGE members tell us they need to continue helping students succeed, the following workshops and conference are in the planning stages:

Fall 2010 Winter 2011

Intervention Workshops

  • PALS Reading and PALS Math
  • Behavior Intervention (Behavior Ed. Plan)
  • EffectiveSchool Interventions

And…additional sessions of “Developing a Framework for RTI” workshops – both high school and middle school levels to be offered

SSTAGE Best Practices Conference

Promising Practices for RTI, the Pyramid of Interventions and SST)

January 12, 2011
Classic Center
Athens

Is your school or system ready to present at the next conference? Applications will be posted in August.

Dates and locations of the workshops will be posted
before the school year begins – Please check back!

What’s on SSTAGE for next year?

SSTAGE is striving to help support schools and systems by providing professional learning which is evidence-based, includes proven practices in schools, and is low in cost, to help build capacity in schools to meet the diverse student needs of schools in the 21st century and reflect the amazing potential of Georgia educators.  We wanted to review and share our progress over the past year.

SSTAGE Progress Monitoring Goals:

  1. Expand communication among SSTAGE members state-wide
  2. Grow capacity in regions through networking
  3. Promote best practices within Georgia schools and districts
  4. Provide multiple opportunities for professional learning around the state
  5. Continue advocacy and collaboration with GaDOE and other educational agencies
