Event Description

Ever wonder why a particular record was included in your search results? You searched for one title but got two records with different titles, or you searched for an author but, looking at the brief OPAC display, you cannot find the name you searched in your record. Why can you sometimes find a short story that is part of an anthology and other times not?The answers to the above questions and more can be found by looking at the record’s MARC (technical) display.

Please join Beth Thornton, UGA, for a one-hour Wimba session on the basics of the MARC format. Designed primarily for non-catalogers, this session will cover the anatomy of a MARC record and the basic fields we use in cataloging.
