The
Virginia State Police and CASC are co-sponsoring a two-day training for
prosecutors on how to handle violations of the Virginia Crimes Against
Children and Sex Offender Registry (SOR).
Topics to be covered include: the history and
structure of the SOR, registration and re-registration requirements,
notification of offenders and compliance issues, records and resources of the
SOR including custodians and affidavits, a review of common defenses and the
presentation of a SOR violation case. VSP will provide a
demonstration of the physical verification process for both businesses and
residences.
Lodging
Wednesday and Thursday night will be provided for attendees whose residences
are more than thirty miles from the Omni Charlottesville. A continental
breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. Dinner on June 1 will be
reimbursed at the state per diem rate. Mileage will not be not covered.
Registration
will open on the CASC website in mid-April.
