The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities’ (DBHDD) Office of Children, Young Adults and Families and Georgia’s Interagency Directors Team (IDT) is pleased to announce the 2016 Georgia System of Care (SOC) Academy scheduled for July 26th – July 28th
at the Evergreen Marriott Hotel in Stone Mountain, Georgia. To celebrate
the collaboration and coordination occurring in Georgia around serving
children, youth, and families, the Academy title of The Art of
Collaboration: Weaving Creativity, Wellness and
Recovery into Systems of Care was selected by the Academy Planning
Team this year. The Academy title emphasizes
the nuances, innovation and creativity that make up the system of care
work in communities all over Georgia. By integrating art into the message
of hope, the SOC Academy intends to provide quality workshops, meaningful
speakers and chances to build and grow relationships.
This is the 9th annual Georgia SOC
Academy and each year the academy has become more diverse. Over 300 individuals
have participated in recent years including representatives from mental health,
child welfare, juvenile justice, K-12 education, early childhood education, law
enforcement, public health, as well as other child and family serving entities.
Our goal is to bring together an assorted group of individuals who make up the
child, youth, young adult, and family-serving community, most importantly
Georgia parents and youth, to improve outcomes, exchange information, share
best practices, as well as highlight effective strategies and cross-cutting
partnerships throughout the state.
