The Prosecuting

cooperation with the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council, and the
Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is pleased to present a
regional, cross-professional Specialized Child Abuse Training seminar on
the topic of Emerging Trends in Child Abuse and Neglect: Getting in the Know.. This training will begin with
registration at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 and conclude by
4:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed
for prosecuting attorneys, assistant prosecuting attorneys, CPS workers, police
officers, and CAC interviewers who are involved with child abuse investigations
or prosecution.
Reports of child abuse and neglect continue to increase yearly. For example, five years ago we didn’t realize the dangers of kids and the internet, nor did we really give thought to the explosive ride of meth production, new street drugs and distribution methods and how it would affect children living with it. We realize that we need to work together with our counterparts and to do that we need to know the roles each of us play. We have begun to see the use of therapy dogs to help children through the tough times they face after the abuse has occurred.
This comprehensive conference will include these topics and more and promote an environment where professionals can learn from each other and discuss ways to address these emerging trends.
Your sessions will
include:
- Therapy animals helping maltreated children: Strategies for successful implementation in CAC’s, prosecutors’ offices and courtrooms.
- Cultivating, Activating,
Collaborating: The CAC Approach
- Drug Trends among teens,
is this what the doctor ordered?
- Lessons from the bench
- Canine Advocacy Program,
Canines in the courtroom
