The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, Child Abuse Training Services, in cooperation with the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council, and the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is pleased to present a prosecutor specific Specialized Child Abuse Training seminar on the topic of Understanding Michigan’s Forensic Interviewing Protocol & Working with your Medical Expert. This training will be held on Thursday, May 18 with registration beginning at 9:30.a.m; seminar begins at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude by 5:00 p.m.
Attendees will learn ways to improve their prosecution success
rate in Child Abuse cases and will leave with a better understanding of the
Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol and the function and expertise of
medical experts in child abuse cases.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Understanding the research behind MI’s Forensic Interviewing Protocol
- Why having a
state protocol & using the protocol saves on Appeal
- Working with your
medical expert before and during your case
- Can a doctor
diagnose a crime?
- Common defense strategies
in Child Abuse cases
- Abusive Head
