The Prosecuting
Attorneys Association of Michigan, Child Abuse Training Services, in
cooperation with the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council, and the
Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is pleased to present a
regional, cross-professional Specialized Child Abuse Training seminar on
the topic of Abusive Head Trauma – Presentation, Interactions, & Resolution. This training will begin with registration at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27 and conclude by 4:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed
for prosecuting attorneys, assistant prosecuting attorneys, CPS workers, police
officers, and CAC interviewers who are involved with child abuse investigations
or prosecution.
An understanding of the mechanics and characteristics of neurotrauma is critical for professionals involved in child abuse and neglect cases. This seminar will explore abusive head trauma issues facing CA/N professionals in the field. Dr. Vincent Palusci, Professor of Pediatrics, NYU School of Medicine, Frances L. Loeb Child Protection & Development Center, will discuss the definition, the offenders and their victims, and factors that present in an abusive head trauma case.
There
