PAAM's Traffic Safety Training Program together with Michigan State Police bring this informal webinar training to Michigan’s law enforcement officers and prosecutors to hear from Elaine Dougherty. The evolution of street drugs over the past ten years has forced the law enforcement community to handle encounters with drugs and drug users differently. From bath salts and K2 to synthetic opioids, seized drugs have changed significantly. As a consequence, officers, property room managers, detectives, and laboratory personnel have all had to change their habits This webinar will explore trends, safer field testing methods, and best practices when handling and packaging drugs.
Elaine Dougherty received her Master's in Forensic Chemistry from Michigan State University and has been a Forensic Scientist for 13 years. She is currently the Controlled Substances Supervisor at the Michigan State Police Bridgeport Forensic Laboratory. She is a member of the Clandestine Laboratory Investigating Chemists and has testified as an expert witness over 100 times in multiple counties in Michigan.
