Online Webinar - GoToWebinar

PAAM's Violence Against Women Project together with Michigan State Police bring this informal webinar training to Michigan’s law enforcement officers and prosecutors to hear from Shane Hill. In forensic science, DNA analysis is one of the best tools for investigators and the judicial system to utilize for identifying a person of interest/suspect(s).  The use of DNA in the forensic science field is rapidly advancing, and new technologies are always constantly being developed.  The increase of DNA kit sensitivity and sampling of contact DNA from crime scenes and evidentiary items requires forethought and communication to properly select the most probative evidence.  This webinar suggests best practices for doing so.

Shane Hill is a Forensic Scientist in the Biology Unit of the Michigan State Police Bridgeport Forensic Laboratory, and has been a Forensic Scientist for over 4 years with a variety of forensic experience. .  He has processed over 80 homicide scenes and vehicles for DNA evidence and has completed approximately 2,000 cases in his career and is active in presenting and teaching local police recruit schools and evidence technician schools.  He is an associate member of the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (MAFS) and has testified as an expert in multiple counties in Michigan.

Registration is required for this training. This webinar will be hosted on the platform GoToWebinar. Once you have registered it is imperative that you follow the link in your confirmation email and register on the GoToWebinar website.
