About the Training:
Two Sessions are available: June 13, at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, and June 15 at Comstock Inn in Owosso. You are registering for June 15, at the Comstock Inn in Owosso.
Training hours: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In the first half of this training, Ryan Painter will provide an introduction to elder and vulnerable adult abuse from a prosecutor’s perspective, understanding the parasitic living dynamic, how to spot abuse, the role of Adult Protective Services, and problems with reporting. Information about types of abuse, potential preventative measures, and common issues faces by victims and their families during and after prosecution.
Continuing, Janet Hahn, PhD, Elder abuse, a will offer a gerontological perspective. She will give an introduction to issues commonly faced by elderly victims, including cognitive aging, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other brain disorders. Practical and ethical considerations for professionals to consider when assisting vulnerable seniors.
In the afternoon, Attorney Myrene Koch will present “Preparing the child for court” and “ Why kids recant and how to work with them.”
Overnight accommodations are provided at the Comstock Inn on June 14, if you are more than 50 miles away, and are a prosecutor-based Advocate, PA or APA.
Attire is business casual. Please dress comfortably. A jacket or sweater is recommended in case of cool room temperatures.
