The Felony Trial Practice is aimed at prosecutors with district court trial experience who are transitioning to circuit court practice and attorneys who currently practice in circuit court with less than three years’ experience. The training will focus on issues that arise more frequently in felony trials including the proper admission of inconsistent statements, impeachment and character evidence, proper use of 404(b) evidence, expert witnesses and Daubert hearings, avoiding appellate error and prosecuting second-degree murder vehicular homicide cases among others. The course will also include a trial practice component in which attendees will pratice skills and receive constructive criticism from seasoned felony trial prosecutors.
