Walker Boardroom 1st Floor
116 W. Ottawa St. Lansing MI 48913
Friday August 16, 2019
 Training from 8:00am - 5:00pm

Please Join the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s Child Abuse Prosecution Resource Unit and VAWA Project for a free, full-day training in understanding the difference between a SANE-P and SANE-A and how to effectively use your SANE in court. As more jurisdictions around the state are utilizing Child Advocacy Centers and SANE programs, sexual assault nurse examiners testimony is becoming an integral part of child, adolescent and adult sexual assault cases.  This training will focus on identifying and understanding the differences in the medical-forensic examinations of the pediatric patient vs. the adolescent and adult patient. The training will also cover qualifying your SANE as an expert, how to effectively use your SANE on direct examination /re-direct and using your SANE exam as corroborating evidence in your case-in-chief. Participants will get a chance to practice their skills on a SANE or a medical professional trained in medical-forensic exams. This training is for prosecutors only, targeted to prosecutors new to handling child or adult sexual assault cases or those looking for a refresher.
