Join the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan Victim Services Training Unit and Integrated Services of Kalamazoo for a training on Mental Health First Aid on June 23, 2022 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. (12:00pm to 1:00pm lunch)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You will learn to recognize common signs and symptoms of mental and substance use health challenges, how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect a person with help, and explore content around trauma, substance use, and self-care all while using the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan

A ssess for risk of suicide

L isten nonjudgmentally

G ive reassurance and information

E ncourage appropriate professional help

E ncourage self-help and other support strategies. 

 

IMPORTANT: This blended training will require a 2-hour, self-paced online course to be completed 5 days prior to participating in the instructor-led training. Pre-work must be completed prior to the instructor-led portion of the course for attendance to be allowed.

The training will be conducted on the Zoom platform. The session will have a 20-participant limit, all participants must be registered, please do not share the link with others. 

Access to the pre-work will be sent via email directly from the Mental Health First Aid trainers.

Access to Zoom links for the instructor-led portion of the training will be sent via email from the PAAM-VSTU. 

This session is open to prosecutors, AAGs, prosecutor-based victim advocates, and AG’s office-based victim advocates.

This training offers 7.5 hours of social worker continuing education credits.
