Sexual Assault Trial Advocacy (2-day)
Prosecutor Only Training
January 19 and 20, 2023 -- 8:30am to 4:30pm
Double Tree Hotel Bay City
One Wenonah Park Place
Bay City, MI 48708
Join the PAAM VAWP for this FREE, highly interactive, 2-day Sexual Assault Trial Advocacy training. Too often in sexual assault cases, we focus on what the victim did to get into a situation, instead of focusing on what the offender has done. This training is designed to aide prosecutors in better noticing signs of trauma in sexual assault cases, how to use those signs to strengthen the cases, and how to conduct a more offender-focused, victim-centered prosecution. Training is appropriate for any prosecutor or
assistant prosecutor who is new or newer to handling these difficult cases.
The following topics will be covered:
- The Neurobiology of Trauma
- Charging Considerations
- Undetected Rapists and Serial Offenders
- Trauma and Memory/FETI
- Jury Selection
- Direct Exam & Cross Exam
- Expert Testimony and Other Acts Evidence
Hotel accommodations on the nights of the January 18th and 19th may be available if you live over 50 miles from the training site. Please indicate if you are interested in hotel accommodations.
Space is limited for this training. A waitlist will be available once registration is full for those interested in attending if there are cancellations.
This training satisfies 13 hours of continuing legal education for purposes of PAAM's Best Practices Recommendations
