The PAAM Victim Services Training Unit is hosting a series of regional, in person, partial day trainings about Michigan’s crime victim compensation program. We hope that you are able to attend the presentation to learn about coming new changes which will impact victim compensation claims and benefits. These training sessions are geared to victim advocates in prosecuting attorneys’ offices and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. County prosecutors, assistant prosecutors, and attorneys general are welcome to attend. PAAM is not offering overnight accommodations or meals at these trainings. Please join us!

Here is information about the training directly from the Crime Victim Compensation team: “Effective August 12, 2023, Michigan’s Crime Victim Compensation Statute will welcome momentous changes to its benefits, definitions of eligibility, and award limits. Please join the Crime Victim Compensation team as they travel to a location near you to provide an in-person training on the statute enhancements to come later this summer. You’ll be excited to learn about all the wonderful changes coming to the Compensation program and how these improvements will significantly impact the lives of the victims that you service day after day. You’ll have an opportunity to dive deep into the legislative changes before they take effect, which will ensure you feel both confident and prepared to handle all things Crime Victim Compensation come August 12th.”

We have space at this training for 50 attendees. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration for the date and location for which you have signed up.

Parking is located directly in front of the police station.  Please either take a moment to jot down your license plate number or take a photo of it so you have it on hand. The Royal Oak Police Department has said we may have to share the plate information to enter or exit the lot, but they are indicating that parking in the lot in front of the police station will be free of charge for attendees to this training presentation. The training will take place in the Community Room in the Police Department.
