New APA & Intern Basic Training

The Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council (PACC), in cooperation with the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM), is pleased to present Basic Training scheduled for May 13-16, 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn Lansing. This four-day training is intended for assistant prosecutors with less than one year of experience and PAAM summer interns.
Attendees will be required to invest time prior
to the training to prepare an opening statement, closing argument, direct of
prosecution witnesses, and cross examination of defense witnesses.
Training Topics
Voir dire, opening statements, direct examination, cross examination, closing arguments, prosecuting intoxicated driver and domestic violence cases, ethics, and avoiding appellate error among other important topics
Who Should Attend?
PAAM summer interns and assistant prosecutors with less than one year of experience.
Registration Cost
The registration fee for this training is $150. If you are an intern your fee has been pre-paid through your county internship. This fee, along with PACC funding, will provide most meals, snacks for breaks, and for those commuting more than 50 miles to and from the training, three nights of lodging at the Hilton Garden Inn Lansing. Depending on room availability, there may be flexibility on lodging restrictions on Tuesday due to the networking dinner and evening training session. Dinner on Monday and Wednesday nights is on your own. Please select your registration option accordingly and note in the comments section if you only require lodging for a portion of the training. If you have special dietary needs, also include them in the comments section.
Space is limited. Even though you will receive an email confirmation for registration, all registrations received will be pending approval until you receive a direct email confirmation from Amy Gronowski at gronowskia@michigan.gov.
Hotel Accommodations
PACC/PAAM will make attendee lodging reservations. Upon check-in, attendees may be asked to present a credit card to cover incidental charges.
