Foundational Academy

 

2019 Changes

There are some new changes to the 2019 Foundational Academies. This year there will be 4 regional academies as follows: February –Pittsburgh, April – State College, July – Philadelphia (Center City), and October – Harrisburg.  Please note the following important change: Because these academies are scheduled to be more convenient to attendees by cutting down the traveling distance, no overnight accommodations will be provided for the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg academies. A continental breakfast and two break snacks will be provided. Accommodations will only be provided for the April State College Foundational Academy.

Registration

Registration closes on January 18, 2019. Registration for this conference is restricted to victim advocates currently employed in Pennsylvania and funded through VOCA, RASA and/or VOJO funding and providing services to all forms of crime victims. The PDAI reserves the right to decline registrants who do not meet the criteria.

Attendance is limited to 75 participants.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  To register, submit your email address above.  If you are registering multiple people for your agency, please ensure that all participant email addresses are included as there will be multiple emails sent to the participants.

Cancellations 

Please keep in mind that there is always a significant waiting list for Foundational Academy. Please inform the PDAI Training Consultant ASAP if you need to cancel your reservation. For cancellations received after February 1, 2019, your agency will be charged for the cost of the provided breakfasts, snacks, and training materials.  
 

Accommodations

This training will take place at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square. Hotel rooms are not included in the registration for this Foundational Academy. A block of rooms has been set aside at the government rate and are available on a first come, first serve basis; expenses covered by your agency. Reservations must be made by January 10, 2019 to secure this rate. Don’t forget to mention the 2019 Pittsburgh Victim Services Foundational Academy when booking in order to receive the discounted rate.

Course Materials 

Course materials will be provided to attendees when they arrive at the Academy.  Additionally, participants will receive information regarding online courses that are required as part of the Foundational Academy.  These courses are part of the curriculum and must be completed prior to receiving a Certificate of Completion.

Please note that an agenda for the course will be sent to all participants closer to the training date.  The agenda has been developed with all requirements in mind and all participants are expected to be present for all sessions in order to receive credit for the in-person academy.
