Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This bill allows the governing authority of any county or city to request that the state revenue commissioner furnish to a designated local finance officer or tax official information included on a vendor's sales and use tax certificate.

Such information is confidential, but boards of commissioners are allowed to review and discuss such information in executive session. This legislation will better enable local governments to identify and report to DOR apparent problems or errors in the vendor list.
