Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation authorizes chief medical examiners to inter unidentified human remains after the peace officer in charge has exhausted all efforts in identifying such remains.  Furthermore, the medical examiner has authority to disinter remains when he or she determines the further information can be obtained that may result in the identification of the remains.
