02.16.11 The Senate Judiciary TORT reform subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report with amendments. The amendments made several technical changes. One amendment includes language in the bill that expressly states that this legislation would not affect the Tort Claims Act (immunity) for local governments.

Summary of the bill as introduced: Places limits on the award of punitive damages in all personal injury actions.This bill also enacts the Private Attorney Retention Sunshine Act to govern the retention of private attorney (s) by the Attorney General or a solicitor.
