02.01.11 The Senate Judiciary committee gave this bill a favorable report with amendments. The amendment strikes all of the House language and inserts the Senate language. The amendments also define political subdivision as a city or county government, allows up to three voting places in a county for early voting and allows a person to use an expired passport or driver's license.
01.18.11 The House Judiciary committee gave this bill a favorable report with amendments. The amendments only make technical changes.
01.13.11 The House Judiciary Election Laws subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report.
Summary of the bill as introduced: Requires a photograph identification to vote. This bill also requires the State Election Commission to create a list of all registered voters who are qualified to vote but do not have a driver's license or other form of ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. It also requires the State Election Commission to create and implement a system to issue voter registration cards with a picture of the elector.
