The committee amendment removes the exemption for legislators. 02.08.12 The House Judiciary Special Laws subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report with an amendment. Among other changes, the amendment prohibits public bodies from charging for administrative time in gathering records and caps the charge for copies at the prevailing market rate. The amendment also requires that if the records are more than 24 months old, the public body may take up to 45 days to comply with the request. 02.01.12 The House Judiciary Special Laws subcommittee adjourned debate on this bill. Summary of the bill as introduced: Requires records to be furnished at current market value to the person requesting the records. This bill also requires a public body to furnish records for inspection or copying immediately but no later than 30 days after the date of the formal request. |
