04.24.12 The Senate Judiciary committee gave this bill a favorable report as amended by the subcommittee.
04.18.12 A Senate Judiciary subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report with a strike and insert amendment. The amendment prohibits anyone under 18 years old from using a cell phone unless he has a hands free device. The amendment also  prohibits anyone from using a cell phone while driving in a school zone or work zone.
02.09.12 The House Education and Public Works committee gave this bill a favorable report as amended by the subcommittee.
02.01.12 The House Education and Public Works Transportation subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report with an amendment. The amendment adds language that would prevent someone from texting while stopped at a stop light or stop sign and creates a $100 surcharge.
01.25.12 The House Education and Public Works Transportation and Roadways subcommittee adjourned debate on this bill.
