State law establishes a window of time for individuals to qualify to run for elected office.  HB 725 would require that the qualification period be reopened the following Monday and Tuesday following the regular qualifying period if an incumbent qualifies but later withdraws before the end of the regular qualifying period. HB 725 failed to advance in the Senate but was attached to SB 92 which did pass and is awaiting action by the Governor.
