Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation would allow fire fighters to carry weapons while on duty with the permission of the "local fire department." The firefighters could conceal or openly carry the weapons. If this bill progresses, and for a variety of reasons (e.g. insurance, liability and possible civil rights infractions which would end up putting counties in Federal court), the decision as to whether firefighters pack heat needs to be made by the local governing authority. |
