Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation removes the ability of counties with a population of 800,000 or more (i.e., Fulton County and Gwinnett County) to adopt an ordinance to create its own county board and department of health and wellness in lieu of the county board and department of health created by general law. Any board and department of health and wellness created by a county will remain in existence until it is reconsistuted by general law, but no later than December 31, 2016. |
