Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation extends the sunset provision for licensed professional counselors (LPC) to sign involuntary commitment papers for mental health patients (1013's). This legislation also allows LPC's to withdraw involuntary commitment orders. This legislation can potentially save counties money by moving mentally ill inmates out of jail and hospital emergencies rooms quicker and eliminating the need for law enforcement to spend hours waiting on physicans. |
