This proposed constitutional amendment would prohibit the state from levying ad valorem tax beginning in 2019, if ratified in a state-wide referendum. While the state does not presently levy an ad valorem tax, the existing Constitution does authorize state ad valorem taxation of up to one-quarter of a mill. |
