This bill, broght by the House Rural Development Council, simply amends state revenue bond law to authorize local governments to issue revenue bonds for wired or wireless (broadband) services that will transmit data at a rate not less than 200 kilobits per second to and from end users and provide access to the internet. As the state's rural broadband initiative grant program has yet to be funded, this allows another tool for local governments to consider in seeking broadband service. |
