This is a constitutional amendment that, if approved by voters, authorizes limited casino gaming (purportedly, horse racing a parimutuel gambling) in Georgia at licenses destination resort facilities. It's companion legislation is SB 45. If passed, the General Assembly could then define and limit these resorts, regulate and license the gambling, and provide for other matters relating to gambling. The General Assembly could then, by statute, require that the taxes derived from this be used for educational purposes and the regulation of gambling, which may include programs for the prevention and treatment of compulsive and addictive gambling. |
