Staff Analysis of the Legislation

Amend Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of Title 15.  Provide for travel allowances for appellate Justices and Judges.  If a Justice or Judge resides 50 miles or more from Atlanta, such Justice or Judge shall also receive a mileage allowance for the use of a personal car when devoted to official business for not more than one round trip per week to and from the Justice�s or Judge�s residence and Atlanta.  If the Justice or Judge uses public carrier for any part of a round trip such Justice or Judge shall receive a travel allowance of actual transportation costs in lieu of the mileage allowance.  Transportation costs incurred by a Justice or Judge for air travel to and from the Justice�s or Judge�s residence to Atlanta shall be reimbursed only to the extent that such costs do not exceed the cost of travel by car.
