Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 217 concerns the ability of homeowners’ associations and property owners’ associations to bring forth legal action in order to enforce ordinances and covenants. Under current law they are unable to bring forth legal action. This bill would give various property owners’ associations the ability to be named a plaintiff in a lawsuit.
