Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HR 1932 creates the House Study Committee on DeKalb County Court Fines and Fees. The committee will be composed of 12 members. Six of the members shall be from the DeKalb County delegation in the House of Representatives and shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The other members shall be the District Attorney of DeKalb County or his or her designee, the Sheriff of DeKalb County or his or her designee, the Clerk of the State Court of DeKalb County or his or her designee, the Clerk of the Superior Court of DeKalb County or his or her designee, the chief executive officer of DeKalb County or his or her designee, and the presiding officer of the Board of Commissioners of DeKalb County or his or her designee. Any report of findings and recommendations, with suggestions for proposed legislation, if any, shall be made on or before December 31, 2008. The committee shall stand abolished on December 31, 2008.
