Staff Analysis of the Legislation

HB 531 extends Georgia's long-arm statute. It amends Article 4 of Chapter 10 of Title 9 of the O.C.G.A, relating to personal jurisdiction over nonresidents. It permits courts to exercise personal jurisdiction over any nonresident on any basis that is not in conflict with the Constitution of the United States or the Constitution of Georgia. Venue in cases under this article shall lie in any county wherein a substantial part of the conduct or omission giving rise to personal jurisdiction under Code Section 9-10-91 occurred.
