HB 687 seeks to amend Code Section 47-23-64 of the O.C.G.A. relating to transfer of funds from the Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia to the Georgia Judicial Retirement System by superior court judges, district attorneys, or solicitors-general and crediting service. 

            It amends language in paragraph (1) of subsection (a) to “member of this retirement system.” It further specifies that any member shall notify the board of trustees of each retirement system no later than December 31, 2016, instead of 2002. 

            The Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016 only if it is determined to have been concurrently funded; otherwise, this Act shall not become effective and shall be automatically repealed in its entirety on July 1, 2016.
