SB 260 amends O.C.G.A. Part 3 of Article 4 of Chapter 11 of Title 16, relating to the purchasing and possession of firearms. Under SB 260, anyone currently a party in divorce proceedings, under O.C.G.A. Chapter 5 of Title 19, or anyone who has a petition seeking relief from family violence or a protective order granted against them would be prohibited from purchasing a firearm. Any person who is a party to either of these proceedings, and attempts to purchase a firearm shall be guilty of a misdemeanor unless they secure written permission, from the presiding judge, allowing the purchase of the firearm. |
